Khatraaz is a striped pattern traditionally used for dresses and garments, later became a popular design for shawls. The stunning black and white stripes are made separately and sewed together, technique used in the old times to allow several artists working in parallel, so they can each work on varieties of design patterns, which are later on sewed together to create a rich, full design piece.
Today this technique is revisited by the young designers to create exciting, diversified new looks. Including patch work in the process of making a shawl requires extra time and labor with special skills, but also open up to endless new possibilities.
